Ettie SWANK died Nov 24 of consumption. She was the daughter of  Ben Swank. Her age was 20 years 9 months and 1 day. She was a  bright young lady and loved and respected by all who knew her.  She was a Christian. She told her mother not to cry, she knew she  would be lonely but she was not afraid to die: that she believed  she would be permitted to enter the Golden Gates into that  beautiful city. What a blessed thing it would be if all could die  that way. She united with the Newlight Church at wingate the year  1890. The funeral occurred on Mon. 26 at the Methodist Church of  this place.

(Elmdale news ) Elder Trotter preached the funeral to a  large concourse of people. She leaves a father and mother and 3  brothers and 5 sisters and many friends to mourn her loss, but  our loss is her eternal gain. Her remains were laid to rest in  the Oakland grave yard one mi. north of this village. The  undertaker in charge was Jerre Pitts of New Richmond. Her pall  bearers were six young ladies. - transcribed by kbz
